Women’s Day Speaker supports Me Too and Never Again

Julie Lalonde, an internationally recognized women’s right advocate and public educator, says the public perception of women reporting crime, especially domestic or sexual assault has to change.

Keynote speaker at the Women’s Wellness Day in Espanola yesterday, she says women should be believed when they report violence and is pleased to see that changing with the Me Too and Never Again movements.

Lalonde shared some interesting statistics; out of every 1,000 assaults that take place in Canada, only 33 are reported and of that, only three are usually convicted.

Stalked for over a decade, Lalonde shared her own horror story, which did not end until he died in a car accident.

Lalonde travels the globe and shares that story with women, and men, advocacy groups sharing her message of validation for women.
