A report on the condition of the Espanola Fire Hall was the focus of a committee of the whole meeting.
Last Friday, council learned any restructuring, additions or changes to the hall would have to meet the standards for a post-disaster building as stipulated under provincial legislation.
Whether the fire hall is modified or a new one is built is estimated at around the same cost, $2.8 million dollars.
A new fire pumper truck is expected to be coming soon and will not fit in the hall as it is, so council has to make a decision in the near future.
