A hiring freeze of sorts has been put in place by Espanola council.
Councillor Ken Dufour says keeping in mind the budget, he strongly believes council should have the opportunity to have a say in filling vacancies or new hires.
He put a motion on the floor asking council to allow for a review before any position is filled.
Council does not hire, but can review positions.
His fellow councilors agreed to the motion that they will review all positions that become vacant, with the exception of firefighters.
