Elliot Lake Mayor Dan Marchisella formally apologized to a city employee on behalf of council last night.

The apology was extended to economic development coordinator, Ashten Vlahovich following a finding by Integrity Commissioner Robert Swayze that former councillor Scot Reinhardt had a complete misunderstanding of the role of a councillor.

Vlahovich had come forward last year with the complaint that Reinhardt was bullying and harassing her concerning the performance of her job.
She referred to “continuous threats from Mr. Reinhardt “of doing as he advised or it would be bad for her” and he intimated that she needed his “political support”.

She avoided contact with him and was “concerned for her job and mental wellbeing.”

Council also voted to accept the report and since Reinhardt resigned last fall, no further action will be taken.
