St. Joseph General Hospital in Elliot Lake is advising the public that the Medical Surgical Unit on the third floor has been closed to visitors due to a possible flu outbreak.
Hospital CEO Pierre Ozolins says the closure was ordered after Algoma Public Health declared a suspect influenza on Sunday.
The only exceptions will be on compassionate grounds, or for direct family members of palliative patients.
Ozolins adds other units will remain open for regular visiting and the public will be notified when the restriction is lifted.
