Schools receive new child care spaces funding

The Rainbow District School Board is receiving just over $6 million funding for the creation of more childcare spaces at some of its schools, including Massey and Manitoulin Island.

The Ministry of Education has announced funding through the ministry’s Stand Alone Care and Family Program, said board director Norm Blaseg.

The funding is for school board early years capital construction and is slated to take place over the next five years.

Blaség added, the money will be used will be used for nine projects including S. Geiger in Massey and three Island schools.

Construction of the new spaces will be carried out this year
