Fire services are a hot issue in Espanola and to that end, council has given the go-ahead to broadcast all meetings live online that concern fire services, except private personnel matters.
Espanola councillor Ron Duplessis told council last week he has received several calls from constituents who were upset that an important meeting concerning the fire department was not broadcast live in December.
Decisions have to be made this year in regards to either expanding the fire hall or building a new one, as well as the purchase of a new pumper truck to meet new emergency standards.
Council broadcasts regular and special council meetings live on YouTube, but not those designated as committee of the whole.
