Elliot Lake Council approves two crisis housing residences

After a special meeting and in-depth discussion, Elliot Lake council has given its approval to two new housing sites for people in crisis.

The project consists of two houses, purchased by Maple Gate with support from the Algoma District Services Administration Board.

One is a transition house for five women on Lawrence Avenue and the other, a men’s shelter for six men and/or families on Mississauga Avenue.

With the approval, Maple Gate will now do renovations to accommodate and meet the requirements of the zoning bylaw.

They are expected to open in the near future
