Multi-hub application up for discussion tonight

Elliot Lake councillors will have to make a decision on whether to move ahead on a multi-use hub tonight in order to meet an application deadline.

Council had deferred the go ahead twice in December waiting for director of community service, Wendy Rowland, to come back with a more specific financial breakdown of costs and potential revenue.

Rowland estimates the total cost of the facility would be almost $41 million.

Council chose the Centennial Arena as its primary location for the hub, which could house a new arena, pool, walking track, gym and curling rink.

If council approves the bylaw, it will allow ample time to submit the application for the January 15th deadline.
