The school is a winner of $50,000 in the Community Resilience category. The Wikwemikoong First Nation council on Manitoulin Island is partnering with the local employment office and high school to build a greenhouse. Students will build the structure. Once built, the greenhouse would provide the high school with the opportunity to launch an innovative Green Industries agricultural program to teach students the benefits and challenges of creating a community-led sustainable food source. The program intends to open enrollment for the fall of 2018 and the greenhouse could also be used free of charge by community members.
