Laboratory testing has confirmed the first case of influenza A in the Algoma district.
Influenza can be a serious disease especially in those with other health concerns, said Jon Bouma, the manager of Environmental Health and Communicable Disease Control at the Algoma Health Unit.
He emphasizes the best way to prevent illness is to get a flu shot.
