Espanola hosts Santa this weekend

Santa is on a whirlwind tour of the North Shore and will be dropping in to Espanola’s biggest Christmas event of the season Saturday.

The Espanola Lions Club and the Town of Espanola invited the man in red to come in and share some face time with the younger set.

The Lions Club will sweeten up the weekend with a free skate at 11 am and a free swim at 1 pm at the recreation complex.

Santa is expected to make an appearance at 12 noon and will stay for a couple of hours to share hotdogs, cake and juice with the kids.

Last year, around 500 children attended the popular event.

Santa caps off the day with a ride on his sleigh as part of the annual Christmas Lights Santa Claus Parade at 7 pm.

The parade leaves from the complex, turns right on Spruce, Avery, Second and Mead and ends at the high school parking lot.
Then, it is time for hot chocolate and cookies at the rec centre before Mr. Claus leaves for his next engagement.
