Espanola council did not pass a bylaw outlawing people from feeding wildlife in the municipality, but that option is available to them.

About two months ago, Espanola councilor Ron Duplessis reported that he had received several complaints from visitors to the cemetery of foxes that were a bit too familiar with them

Duplessis says it is not the proper location to be feeding wild animals.

He added people had been feeding the animals since Spring and have lost their fear of humans.

Council approved and has now installed the signage, which clearly states no feeding allowed.

If the town wants to prevent further feeding of wildlife, it is up to council to pass a bylaw outlawing the practice.
