Josh Norman’s first Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League goal, coming in his initial game with the Blind River Beavers, proved to be the game-winner as they edged the Soo Thunderbirds 2-1 Friday at John Rhodes Community Centre.

Rayside-Balfour Canadians goaltender MacKenzie was stellar Sunday afternoon posting his third shutout of the season as his 31-save performance backstopped his club to a 2-0 road triumph over the Beavers.

Meanwhile, Cochrane Crunch triumphed 6 to 1 over the Espanola Express Friday night at Tim Horton Event Centre.

The Kirkland Lake Gold Miners also beat out the Express 6-1 tSaturday at the Joe Mavrinac Community Complex.

The Elliot Lake Wildcats let a late three-goal lead slip away in regulation before rebounding early in overtime to edge the Hearst Lumberjacks 4-3 Friday night at Claude Larose Arena, but the Timmins Rock picked up the 4 to 1 win over Wildcats Saturday at McIntyre Arena.
