International speaker on paper opens Fibre Arts Festival 2017

This is the sixth year for the Espanola Fibre Arts Festival and it is turning out to be one the biggest ever.  The only festival of its kind, it showcases fibre artists and their work.
It all kicks off tonight at 7pm with keynote speaker Drew Matott at the United Church in Espanola.
Matott says he has brought his portable paper making studio to show how the milfoil in Clear Lake can be recycled into paper.
Matott divides his time between teaching at colleges, doing art residencies, completing studio work, designing new papermaking endeavors and directing the Peace Paper Project, which is now found in 40 countries.
Matott will also be visiting AB Ellis Public School, Espanola High and the Espanola Friendship Circle during his visit to Espanola.
