Scouts are returning to the North Shore.
Rob Haarmayer of Espanola has been working closely with Dawn Brown, Area Support Manager with the Northern Ontario Council for Scouts Canada.
The two are looking at opening up two divisions in the short term: Cub Scouts for eight to ten years of age and Scouts for 11 to 14 to boys and girls in the Espanola and North Shore area.
Haarmayer says Cubs will learn all kinds of life skills, such as first aid and paddling a canoe while Scouts will focus on valuable leadership skills and developing self-confidence.
Other ages will be added as the troop grows.
The two are working out logistics and are finalizing a venue to host the troop.
Registration for the new scouting unit is expected to be held in the near future.
