Elliot Lake council will have to decide how to fill a vacancy on council this evening.
A letter of resignation from Candace Martin was submitted on September 15 to take effect immediately.
No reason for her resignation was given.
Council will declare the vacancy tonight.
They can choose to fill the vacancy by either appointing a person who has consented to accept the office if appointed or hold a by-election.
They have 60 days to decide, then the vacancy must be filled.
