Junior A Weekend Wrapup – All three local teams on losing end

It was a busy and tough weekend for three local area Junior A hockey teams.
Cochrane handed Blind River its first loss on Saturday in Iroquois Falls, and the second came from Hearst on Sunday.
The Cochrane Crunch picked up three assists to help them hand the Blind River Beavers their first loss of the season as they skated to a 4-1 victory.
And it was a stellar start for Hearst Lumberjacks Sunday with a 4-1 triumph over the Beavers at Claude Larose Arena.
It was also a double loss weekend for Elliot Lake Wildcats.
They lost out to the Powassan Voodoos in a 7-3 loss on home ice at Centennial Arena on Friday.
The next night, the dream start to the season continued for the French River Rapids.
French River picked up two goals and as many assists to help them skate to a 5-2 victory over the Wildcats Saturday night at the Noelville Arena.
That win jumps the Rapids into first place with 11 points.
And, the Soo Eagles are flying on home ice, scoring at a high rate of late as they went on to derail the Espanola Express 10-1 Saturday night at Pullar Stadium.
