Pickle Ball Facility – more answers needed

Elliot Lake council wants more information about a pickle ball facility before making any decision on whether it will become part of the city athletic landscape.

Councillor Tammy Van Roon says there are too many questions still to be answered in regards to the game, which has become quite popular.

Pickleball is a court sport played on a badminton-sized court with the net lowered to 34 inches at the center.
It is played with a perforated plastic ball similar to a whiffle ball and wood or composite paddles about twice the size of table tennis paddles.

The proposal came from a potential investor, but Van Roon says as to whether it would be located in a proposed multi-plex centre or as a standalone facility has not even been discussed.

Costs and location are other considerations, as well as if the public wants it.

She has asked for council to defer the motion to move ahead until the investor appears before the members to outline their proposal.

Council agreed and the motion was deferred.
