4elements Living Arts hosting Elemental Festival on Manitoulin

With the support from federal Canada 150 funding, 4elements and Billings Township on Manitoulin Island have seen seven permanent public sculptures and a series of heritage plaques installed throughout the Township this year, creating a ‘Billings Art & Heritage Trail’.

The organizing committee says six artists were also chosen via a community engaged selection process; the seventh sculpture will be designed via a facilitated community collaborative design process.

All permanent works have been installed and will be ‘unveiled’ during the new Elemental Festival.

The festival will have a focus on relationships between the land and environment, as well as acknowledging the role of the many cultural communities within and surrounding Billings: the French, the English and local First Nations.

The festival takes place Friday, September 29th to October 1st in Kagawong on Manitoulin Island.
