Police in Sault Ste. Marie are looking into several possible causes after a resident of their city died when hit by a vehicle. The 58-year-old woman was hit by a car in the Station Mall early Saturday afternoon. Just seconds before, the vehicle hit a building first and after striking the victim, it hit two parked vehicles. The woman was trapped under one of the parked vehicles and airbags were used to free her. The victim was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries where she died a short time later. Police are looking into all causes in the fatal collision including whether mechanical failure or alcohol were factors.
