Espanola Council approves Camp Quality celebration

Camp Quality is planning a big celebration in Espanola next week and Espanola council unanimously supports the reunion.

Council approved two bylaw exceptions at its regular meeting of council on Tuesday, September 12th to allow for a reunion.

Local Camp Quality organizers had asked for an exception to the local bylaws in regards to fireworks and noise.

Camp Quality is hosting its reunion in Espanola on Saturday, September 23rd.

Camp Quality provides a program to support children with cancer and their families.

The local Camp Quality is located in the Sudbury area and has provided positive camping experiences for many families in the local areas.

The Espanola Volunteer FIrefighters have agreed to take care of the fireworks on the track and field adjacent to the Espanola Regional Recreation Complex.

Councillor Ron Duplessis noted that the group has been an active and positive part of Espanola and area for many years and encouraged his fellow councillors to support the exceptions.

“They have had fireworks other year sand residents have not expressed concerns,” said Duplessis. “In fact, they enjoy them themselves.”
