Wynne testifies in Sudbury bribery trial

Premier Kathleen Wynne appeared yesterday in the Elections Act bribery trial in Sudbury.

The Premier testified in the morning that she did not believe Andrew Olivier was a strong enough candidate after losing the election in 2014 in a riding the Liberals held for nearly two decades.

Wynne added the idea of an NDP federal member in Glenn Thibeault running for the provincial Liberals intrigued her, adding that it was a complicated situation.

Wynne said she thought Gerry Lougheed was a natural to reach out to then-NDP MP Glenn Thibeault.

After losing a seat that the Liberals held for nearly twenty years, Wynne admits that having Thibeault run instead of Andrew Olivier became an option.

Wynne is not facing charges in the trial.
