The Sudbury bribery trial has heard that current MPP Glenn Thibeault wasn’t happy as a federal New Democrat.
That’s the testimony from Domenic Giroux, the former president of Laurentian University according to the Sudbury Star.
The Star says Giroux told the court Thibeault was impressed by Premier Kathleen Wynne and wanted to be a Liberal candidate in the future.
When the 2015 by-election was called, Giroux contacted key Liberals telling them of Thibeault’s interest.
Giroux says Thibeault had conditions including not having to run against former candidate Andrew Olivier and he also wanted a cabinet position.
Premier Kathleen Wynne takes the stand today.
