Mantha surprised no public input on new OPP building for Manitoulin

Algoma Manitoulin MPP Mike Mantha is surprised the OPP on Manitoulin, the public and community leaders weren’t asked about where a new OPP building should go.  Infrastructure Ontario decided on its own that the new detachment will be built in Little Current.  Mantha says it should have been common sense to ask for local input because they are the experts and individuals who will rely on the service.  Mantha wants to meet with the Attorney General and other ministries to learn why Infrastructure Ontario didn’t ask for local input on the building’s location.  Although it’s unlikely anything can be done about what happened on Manitoulin, Mantha says the goal is to avoid a repeat of not asking for local input in the future.
