A death threat in Espanola that was thought to involve a firearm has resulted in a man being charged with uttering a threat to cause death or bodily harm. The victim told police that a 28-year-old man threatened to kill him and thought he had a rifle sticking out of a backpack. The accused left before police arrived but they found him about an hour later. There was no backpack and the man told police he wasn’t armed. However police charged him with the death threat offense.
