The Ministry of Transportation is in the process of determining the future of the Swing Bridge in Little Current. The MTO is undertaking an environmental assessment of the 104-year old structure but any major decisions about the bridge are years away. That’s because the assessment would include things like preliminary designs, alternate locations and lots of public consultation.  Questions to be considered are does the bridge get a complete overhaul, is it repaired as needed or does a new bridge go up. Also one factor the ministry has to take into account is the bridge is designated an Ontario Heritage site.  Meanwhile some repairs continue on the bridge after one of the four supports partially collapsed two weeks ago.
