There might come the day when an autism program for children designed by an Espanola woman becomes part of the school system. Theresa Laurenti designed Edge of the Box Theatre and Movement.  Laurenti says she gets a lot of feedback from parents and teachers on how well the program works. Pediatricians have also noticed big differences with autistic children. Edge of the Box uses music, dance, acting and movement to help autistic children come out of their shells. Laurenti explained her program to a national audience at an autism conference in Ottawa where it was well received. It’s also been well received in the Espanola to Sudbury region and Laurenti’s ultimate goal is to see Edge of the Box introduced in schools.
