If you get a letter and cheque saying you’ve been picked as a mystery shopper, be very careful. The companies Mystery Global Survey Group and My Shop Limited are doing just that. However the Financial Services Commission of Ontario says both companies are scammers and their cheques are phony. The companies ask you to deposit the cheque and then ask you to wire part of the money back to them from your account. Doing that will cost you money because once your bank determines you deposited a fake cheque, it goes after you to recover its money.
