Trustees with the Rainbow District School Board have decided to close Webbwood Public School. However, rather than bus the students to Espanola, trustees listened to parents and will send the students to S. Geiger in Massey. This way the students remain in Sables-Spanish Rivers Township. The move takes effect at the beginning of the next school year. The Webbwood closure is one of several schools affected under board consolidation. And some consolidations will take longer as the board builds some new schools. Once complete, the consolidations will save the board $2.2 million in annual operating costs. But also the board won’t have to spend about $32-million in renewal costs.
