Bribe trials set

The Sudbury by-election scandal from two years ago is finally seeing trial dates set for two people charged in the matter.  Gerry Lougheed Junior, a top Liberal fundraiser in Sudbury and the Premier’s former deputy chief of staff Pat Sorbara go to court this September and October.  Both are charged with bribery under the Ontario Elections Act.  It’s alleged they made an offer to a candidate not to seek the Liberal nomination in Sudbury so that a high-profile candidate could run instead.  Lougheed and Sorbara have denied the allegations.
