Crystal Shawanda nominated for Juno for Best Album of the Year

It’s another honour for Crystal Shawanda of Manitoulin.  The Island resident has been nominated for a Juno for Album of the Year in the Indigenous category.  The nomination is for her latest album, Fish Out of Water.  Shawanda says the album came at a time when she felt discouraged and told her mom she felt like a fish out of water trying to learn how to fly.  Her mom told Shawanda to embrace how she felt and that led to the album.  One of the singles off the album is Laid Back and tells a personal story on where Shawanda is in her life.  The Juno’s take place in Ottawa April 2nd, but Shawanda is close to delivering a baby girl so she’s not sure if she can make the function.
