Rainbow students and staff wearing orange shirts on Thursday

Students and staff with the Rainbow board will be decked out in orange on Thursday.   It’s to support survivors of residential schools across Canada.  The colour recognizes the orange shirt worn by a young girl from the Dog Creek reserve who attended a residential school in B.C. in 1973.  When Phyllis Webstad showed up at the school, her clothes were taken from her including her brand new orange shirt.  Later in life Webstad wrote about her experiences, including the removal of her orange shirt and that sparked the day of recognition.
