NEORN slams federal government over lack of funding for the Algoma Central passenger train

The federal government’s decision to revoke the annual funding of the Algoma Central passenger train is a clear indication of the inequality between urban and remote transportation priorities in Canada. That’s according to the North Eastern Ontario Rail Network, who also claim the feds are refusing to fund intercity passenger rail services between Sault St. Marie and Hearst.

NEORN also notes the government eliminated the $2.2 million in funding towards the Algoma Central once in 2014 and now again in 2016,without any consultations.
