Algoma District School Board awarded for E-Learning intiatives

The Canadian Education Association is awarding the Algoma District School Board with the Ken Spencer Award. It’s for Innovation in Teaching and Learning, for the board’s E-Learning initiative. The association says that program tackles the issue of student disengagement by using online tools, and allowing students to pick what they study.

A key part of the successful program is keeping the same teachers in the same courses for a number of semesters and providing them with extensive face-to-face co-planning time and direct access to experts. Along with the award, the board also took home a cheque for $1,000.
