Espanola fully engaged in Mental Health Week

One in four Canadian seniors has a mental health issue and there’s evidence that the number is growing. That’s the word from Aimee Tremblay a rehabilitation practitioner at the Espanola Mental Health Clinic.

This is Mental Health Week and the clinic has been making residents more aware of various mental health issues. Tremblay says one thing employees talk about is the high suicide rate among older men. She says men over the age of 80 have the highest suicide rate. She says mental health problems after 65 include depression, anxiety, dementia, and psychosis.

Anyone with mental health concerns can call the clinic at 869-1564.
