Last year when the new Elliot Lake city council took office, Mayor Dan Marchisella talked to each member about their expectations. Marchisella says each councillor wanted a new strategic plan. This past June work started on that plan and the document identifies seven specific goals. Marchisella says the goals are realistic and one that’s a no brainer is continuing to invest in infrastructure, like roads. But the mayor says when it comes to road work, it goes beyond simple re-paving. He says the underground workings like water and sewer pipes also need replacing. The city encountered several road issues over the summer, like on Westview, and Marchisella says council knows it has to replace the underground workings in addition to re-surfacing roads.
