A blue-green algae bloom has been found in Little Lake Panache east of Espanola. The bloom can be toxic and should be avoided. The Sudbury and District Health Unit is telling people who use the water to find an alternative source until the bloom disappears. In addition to not drinking the water, don’t wash food with it, don’t let your pets drink it and be careful of eating fish from the lake. The health unit says don’t boil water from the lake because that just releases more toxins. In a worst case scenario the toxins could damage your liver and nervous system if ingested.
