Some big things are going on at the Espanola Regional Recreation Complex. A squash court is being converted into a giant aquarium as part of next week’s Pumpkin and Fibre Arts Festival. The theme is coral reefs and artists are creating things like brain coral, felted rocks and a five-foot paper mache shark. The local endeavour is part of a larger world-wide effort by many communities to raise awareness about the fragility of the coral reef ecosystem. The community project will be unveiled October 16th at the rec complex at 7:00pm.
