Green Party candidate in Algoma Manitoulin Kapuskasing, Calvin John Orok says the Ring of Fire should be developed because of its job potential. But Orok also says we don’t want an environmental disaster on our hands. Orok says the Green Party would take a long term view of the chromite discovery and use a collaborative approach to develop it. That means the site has to be developed in a safe way so that the environment is not damaged. Orok says any talk of developing the site must also include First Nations. Also running in the riding are Heather Wilson of the Liberals, the Tories’ Andre Robichaud and incumbent New Democrat Carol Hughes.
