The Children’s Aid Society of Algoma might be looking at a strike as early as next week. Contract negotiations between the society and the union, CUPE Local 5269, have broken down.
The union could strike as early as September first. A day of mediation is set for August 31st. If there is a strike, the society a contingency plan will be put into place for the families affected. Children’s Aid will still respond to emergency calls during a strike.
