Solar eclipse this afternoon

Gordon’s Park on Manitoulin has set-up a solar eclipse party for Monday afternoon’s solar eclipse.   Visitors will get free solar eclipse glasses and can also watch the stellar event on an eight inch telescope.  The moon will begin passing in front of the sun at 1:06pm creating a partial darkness for Northern Ontario.  The eclipse hits its maximum at 2:25pm before the sky starts to lighten up again.  To look at the eclipse, make sure you protect your eyes with proper eclipse glasses and not the fake ones that have been making the rounds.  You can also wear number 14 welder goggles available at hardware stores or go online to learn how to make an easy pinhole camera.
