Provincial park sees it’s best ever Lumberjack Days

The most recent Lumberjack Days at Mississagi Provincial Park north of Elliot Lake is being hailed as the most successful yet.  About 1,400 people from along the North Shore, Southern Ontario and the U.S.took part and watched the activities at the park.  Park staff had to add 29 more campsites because all the regular sites were sold out.  Some of the events included log burling, axe throwing, nail driving and the two person cross cut.  With the cross cut, Pamela Lees-Steinke and Autumn Daniher beat all other teams, and that’s men and women, with a time of 25.4 seconds.  The winner of the log burling was 12-year-old Hunter Daniher who beat out older and more experienced competitors.   The best overall team in the competitions was the Green Team which took home the Prestige Glass Trophy.
