Sudbury bribery by-election scandal back in the news

The Sudbury by-election scandal is in the news this week.  Two high-ranking Liberals, including Gerry Lougheed Junior of Sudbury, were charged with bribery under the Ontario Election Act.   The charges came after Lougheed and Pat Sorbabra, the Premier’s former chief of staff, allegedly bribed a Liberal candidate to step aside.  The candidate, Andrew Olivier, recorded the conversations.  Now the lawyers for Lougheed and Sorbara want to examine Olivier’s electronic devices.  The Crown doesn’t believe anything on Olivier’s devices should delay the start of the trial on September 7th.  Lougheed and Sorbara have always denied offering Olivier a bribe.
