A good chunk of change was raised to expand a hospice in Sudbury that will also serve the Espanola and North Shore area. Forty-one teams, including the Papertown Paddlers, raised $61,000 in the Sudbury Dragon Boat Races toward the $5.1 million expansion. The Papertown team finished 17th overall. Participant Rob Haarmayer says the Papertown Paddlers finished second in the first race, first in the next race then fell to third in the final race. The expansion project will include an additional 10 beds at the hospice and also involves renovations.
