No sentencing decision yet in McColeman sexual exploitation case

Espanola and area residents will have to wait a while longer to learn what kind of sentence Paul McColeman will receive.  That’s because the Crown is undecided on whether to have McColeman designated a dangerous offender or long term offender.  McColeman was found guilty last month of 34 sex-related charges involving young boys from Espanola.  During his trial, the court was told that over an eight year period McColeman lured boys over the internet using various aliases.  In pronouncing McColeman guilty, Judge Patricia Hennessey said he ran a grooming and luring operation from his home.  The matter is back in court July 28th at which point the Crown will update where it’s at with the designation.
