Health unit puts out West Nile Virus reminder

The Sudbury and District Health Unit is reminding residents in the north about West Nile Virus.   The health unit says although the risk of infection is low, anyone can get it.  People develop the virus when they’re bitten by infected mosquitoes.  The health unit has had only two cases of West Nile in its area, one in 2006 and the second one in 2015.   To reduce the chance of bites, wear insect repellant and light coloured clothing.  Also if you plan to do some hiking in a wooded area, consider long sleeves, long pants and a hat.
