School board to close Blind River Public School and transfer students to W.C. Eaket Secondary

Blind River Public School will close its doors and merge with W.C. Eaket Secondary School.  That’s the decision of trustees with the Algoma District School Board.  However whether the students are transferred to the existing building or a new one is undecided.  The board is applying to build an entirely new school on the Eaket grounds that would house JK to Grade 12 students.  However, if the province says no, then it will need money to renovate the existing building.  The timing to close Blind River Public also depends on whether the board gets money for a new school or renovates Eaket. The board is closing Blind River Public because it’s too expensive to upgrade plus enrollment at the school has dropped over the years.
