Algoma school board approves $153-million budget

The Algoma District School Board plans to spend just more than $153-million during the 2017-18 school year.  Trustees had to take almost $2-million from its reserve fund to balance next year’s budget.   About two-thirds of the money is spent on classroom instruction.   The board is also increasing teaching staff levels in several areas including hiring five more math teachers.
