Seniors at the Espanola Nursing Home should find it easier and safer to stand from a sitting position. It’s because of a specially-designed unit the nursing home has acquired which helps people stand after they’re placed in a chair. The senior is put in a chair and strapped with soft bands and then after pushing a button, the lift rises allowing the person to stand up. The Sara 3000 Sit to Stand Lift was bought through a partnership in Espanola with Domtar Unifor Local 74 and McCullough Insurance. Both say it’s their way of giving back and helping seniors. Their contribution amounted to $10,000.
